I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving – we sure did! Since there are a lot of posts out there about thanksgiving dinners, I will write about a delightful experience we recently had at a friend’s place. Our friend has a personal sized farm, and invited us over for dinner and to meet his pet horses, llamas, dogs, rabbit, and cats. The place was just drop-dead gorgeous – rustic, charming and beautiful – and the animals were super friendly, and seemed to be a big happy family (look for the photo of the dog and the llama petting each other).
For the first course, we shared fresh bread dipped in 25 year aged balsamic vinegar and kalamata & blood orange olive oil, along with roasted garlic. Our host grilled some Alaskan and Scottish salmon, dressed in lemon, olive oil, and light seasoning, which we had with a side of salad. The salmon was grilled atop a cedar plank and the smokiness of the wood slightly infused itself into the fish, making for a very appetizing meal. For dessert, we had chocolate cake, and a simple but scrumptious combination of grapes, sour cream and brown sugar. Needless to say, I ate to my heart’s content and found myself reminiscing the dinner for the next few days. Here are some photos I managed to take on our walk around the farm, and at dinner:
